UX/UI design · Geneva

Geneva UX/UI
agency for exacting interfaces.

An independent UX/UI agency, Brutux Studio works with Geneva teams on software where mistakes are costly: financial tools, service platforms, applications used by international audiences. From our base in Thonon, on the shores of Lake Geneva, we run audits, user interviews, screen design and component libraries.

UX, the Geneva way.

In Geneva, much of the software serves professions where precision comes first: wealth management, compliance, trading, fiduciary services, public administration. Users handle dense data and multi-step approvals. Good UX does not try to simplify everything; it sets priorities, makes every status explicit and reassures at the exact moment a decision is committed.

For international organisations and NGOs, the constraints differ: users from many countries, several languages, widely varying levels of digital confidence. The interface has to hold up in French as well as English, accept longer labels and remain understandable for someone who opens it only twice a year.

For Geneva service companies, the issue is often the internal tool: a client portal, a back office, a case-tracking application built up in successive layers. Our job as a UX/UI agency is to make it a coherent whole again, without interrupting business, involving the people who use it every day.

The teams we work with.

In Geneva, three client profiles come up again and again, each with its own demands.

Fintech and regtech vendors

Products rich in data and approvals, where every status must be explicit and every error caught before it costs money.

International organisations and NGOs

Platforms used in several languages by very diverse audiences, often occasionally, that must make sense without training.

Service firms and fiduciaries

Client portals and back offices built up layer by layer, to be made coherent again without interrupting business.

Our work in Geneva.

Four engagements tailored to products rich in data, rules and languages.

01

UX audit of financial tools

A review of sensitive journeys, such as approvals, data entry or reporting, to identify the ambiguities that cause errors or support requests.

02

Interfaces in several languages

Screens designed from the wireframe stage for French and English, with components that handle long text and regional formats.

03

Portal and back-office redesign

An internal tool or client area put back in order: navigation, tables, filters and statuses redesigned around real tasks.

04

Design system for distributed teams

A documented library that lets in-house teams and different suppliers produce screens that are consistent with one another.

05

On-site workshops and tests

Scoping workshops and user testing sessions held at your Geneva offices, with your business teams around the table.

What you receive.

Deliverables designed for organisations where several teams, in-house and external, work on the same product.

What your clients search on Google.

Trust is designed.

In Geneva, a financial interface leaves no room for guesswork. For Swissquote, Victor Michel, the studio’s founder, led the design of Invest Easy in constant contact with developers, the product manager and the product owner: workshops, wireframes for the key scenarios, Figma mock-ups and detailed acceptance criteria. Qualitative testing sessions marked the way. A concrete example of what a tool demands when mistakes are costly.

Designing for Geneva.

What we have learned about Geneva software, and what to anticipate before starting UX work.

Multilingual is designed, not translated

An interface designed in French and then translated into English almost always breaks somewhere: buttons too narrow, truncated columns, inconsistent date or amount formats. In Geneva, where one team often mixes several working languages, we size components for the longest language from the wireframe stage and test screens in each one. Domain vocabulary is validated with French- and English-speaking users, because a financial term that is crystal clear in one language can become ambiguous in the other.

Digital accessibility in Switzerland

In Switzerland, the Disability Discrimination Act (LHand) and the eCH-0059 standard set WCAG-based accessibility requirements, mainly for public services; a revision of the LHand, under way at the time of writing, also targets private providers. A Swiss company selling to consumers in the EU may additionally fall under the European Accessibility Act. Without standing in for lawyers, we build these requirements into the design: contrast, keyboard navigation, structure readable by screen readers, explicit labels. For formal compliance, we work from a specialist auditor’s report.

Sensitive data, adapted methods

Wealth management, compliance, personal files: much Geneva software handles confidential information. User research adapts accordingly: a confidentiality agreement signed upfront, demo accounts, blurred screenshots, interviews focused on tasks rather than on the data itself. These precautions do not prevent close observation of real work; they simply call for prior scoping with your legal and security teams, which we prepare from the first conversation.

Studio, agency or freelancer in Geneva?

The Geneva market has large digital agencies, UX consultancies and many independent UX/UI designers. A large agency brings capacity, at the cost of middlemen; a freelancer brings flexibility, on a scope often limited to design. Brutux Studio sits in between: a single senior point of contact, a method that runs from UX audit to design system, and the option of building the product afterwards, from Thonon-les-Bains on the other shore of the lake.

Where we work.

Geneva is easy to reach from Thonon-les-Bains: we come to you for user interviews and debrief workshops, and work remotely between meetings. We work in French or English, depending on your teams.

Frequently asked questions.

UX/UI agency Geneva: answers to the questions we are asked.

Can a UX/UI agency from Haute-Savoie work in Geneva?

Yes: our studio, a French company, is based in Thonon-les-Bains, a town that is part of Greater Geneva. With our Geneva clients, the important moments happen on site and routine follow-up over video.

Can you design interfaces in English?

Yes. We design screens in both languages from the wireframes and check that every component copes with variations in length. User interviews can also be conducted in English.

How do you handle data confidentiality?

We can sign a confidentiality agreement before starting, then work from demo accounts or anonymised data. During interviews, we only collect what is useful for the analysis.

Do you run user tests in Geneva?

Yes, we can run interviews and tests at your Geneva offices, which is often preferable for professions where observing the workstation matters. Otherwise, they take place over video with screen sharing.

Does Brutux Studio run workshops in Geneva?

Yes. Scoping workshops, user testing sessions, debriefs: the moments when business teams, management and engineering need to be in one room take place at your Geneva offices. Design work then moves forward remotely, with regular check-ins.

How do you differ from a Geneva freelance UX designer?

A freelancer is a great fit for a well-bounded design assignment. We cover a wider scope, from UX audit to design system, with the option to build the product, while keeping a single senior point of contact.

Do you work on banking or financial software?

Yes, on the design side: approval journeys, data tables, reporting, client areas. Regulatory requirements remain with your compliance teams, with whom we review every sensitive journey.

How long does a UX engagement in Geneva last?

A UX audit wraps up in 2 to 3 weeks. Designing an interface or a design system spans 2 to 6 months, paced by 6-week cycles that each end with a demo.

Can you take over another supplier’s design system?

Yes. We start from the existing library, spot duplicates and missing components, then document it so your teams and suppliers can use it without us.
